The days are shorter, and the air is getting colder, so now we begin to think about our favorite time of year in Red River, New Mexico – ski season. The falling snow turns our town into a winter wonderland, bringing a lot of winter fun and many memories to be made. We wait all year for some of our winter events, such as the Frozen Turkey Race, Switch on the Holidays, and this year’s newest event, Christmas in the Mountains, which will feature a Light Parade down Main Street, a Christmas Market, and a Torch Light Parade to finish out the festivities! You won’t want to miss out on the holiday magic that comes with these memorable events. 

5. Family-Friendly Fun

Ski season is not just for those who love to shred the mountain; it’s a great, family-friendly destination. Here, everyone can enjoy the snow in different ways. Skiing, snowboarding or ski biking down the mountain is not your cup of tea. Did we mention you could go sledding down one of the hilly areas or at the ski area? You can also watch the skiing adventures from The Lift House while enjoying your favorite hot drink. No matter your choice, you are bound to have a blast and make many new memories.

The whole family will enjoy the Torchlight Parade and fireworks on The Face every Saturday night during the winter season.
