For those adrenaline junkies, looking for things to do on the wild side, here are 5 Red River activities perfect for you.

Hiking in Red River

Hiking the mountains in Northern New Mexico is an experience you will never forget. The amount of memories you will make will stay with you for a lifetime. One of the most common hikes taken is Middlefork Lake. To get to the top of this 2 mile hike you can walk or ride up on horseback. This trail is also pet friendly so be sure to bring your fur baby along for the beautiful view of the lake!

ROV Riding in Red River

Off-road adventuring is a main attraction here in Northern New Mexico and what better time to do it than during the summer! Call Weezie’s to book your ROV reservations. The most popular trail here in Red River is Goose Lake Trail. Some areas of this trail can be narrow, so be sure to watch out for oncoming traffic. Pioneer Canyon Trail, located behind the ski area is another popular one that offers mines and mining cabins. A ride up to Greenie Peak is the highest peak in New Mexico that can be accessed by motor vehicles as well. Once you reach the top you can see views of the Ski Area and Colorado as well. One thing to be mindful of is that if the season is too dry, these trails can be closed to ROVs due to fire risk, so always check first.

White Water Rafting

If you’re looking for something crazy to do and get soaking wet while at it, then rafting must be on your list to do. Rafting the Rio Grande is some of the best rapids you will find around here. You can raft as long as 17 miles downstream. The experience you have rafting will want you coming back every year and leveling up each time. The thrills it gives and the adventure you take with your family and people you meet along the way is something you will never forget.
