Red River is a unique spot for fishing because of the river that flows right through the middle of town, which is how the town got its name. Sitting down by the bank laughing with loved ones as the New Mexican sun dances off the water is a fan favorite for everyone who comes to Red River. Fish commonly caught in Red River are German Brown, Rainbow, Brook and Cutthroat Trout. You can also find Pike and Salmon in nearby waters.
Along with the river, another popular fishing spot in Red River is the Red River Fishing Ponds. These ponds are towards the middle of town, which makes staying in Lady Victoria the ultimate fishers getaway. The Red River Fishing Ponds are pre-stocked with Rainbow Trout so get ready to start reeling ‘em in! *Some of the town’s public fishing ponds are currently receiving a little extra TLC and are undergoing some routine maintenance which will include the addition of a new pier.

Eagle Nest Lake is a 2,000-acre lake south of Eagle Nest owned by the New Mexico Department of Game and Fish. Fish commonly caught in Eagle Nest Lake are Kokanee Salmon, Yellow Perch, Rainbow Trout, and Cutthroat Trout.
Rio Grande River
Rio Grande is a major river originating in Colorado that flows south through New Mexico, through Texas and into the Gulf of Mexico. Fish commonly caught in Rio Grande are Brown Trout, Rainbow Trout, Northern Pike, Small mouth Bass, and Rio Grande Cutthroat Trout.
Middle Fork Lake
Middle Fork Lake is a six-acre lake at the head of the middle fork of the Red River. Fish commonly caught in Middle Fork Lake are Rainbow and Cutthroat Trout.
Goose Creek
Goose Creek is a small tributary to the Red River. Fish commonly caught in Goose Creek are Rainbow and Cutthroat Trout.
