Hallmark Holidays in Red River

What better way to spend the holidays than in a small quiet mountain town such as the beautiful Red River, New Mexico. Red River is a great destination town that turns magical when it’s lit up with lights during the winter holidays; especially when it’s covered in snow and you can feel the holiday spirit. Located in the Sangre De Cristo Mountains, Red River is a winter wonderland that welcomes all visitors. Red River was founded by miners and is now home to those who love the mountains and the cooler weather. The mile-long town is full of locally owned businesses and restaurants and the locals are always excited to see visitors.

Red River is known for its family friendly experiences and awesome ski slopes that are perfect for beginners and even those who are more advanced. No matter the season or time of year, Red River always looks like it came out of a Hallmark movie.

Snow in Red River

During the winter season there will be snow. Mother Nature may dump several inches, or several feet, of snow at a time on the mountain and there will only be more with the help of Red River Ski Area’s snow blowers. All of the winter activities that Red River offers needs snow in order for those activities to be open. Take some time off work and spend a week in the snowy mountains with your family. Grab your warm coat and cute beanie with the matching scarves and mittens and head out into the forest to pick out your very own Christmas Tree during Christmas. Permits are required in order to cut down a tree. These permits are inexpensive and can be purchased here

Visit the local coffee shops such as Peak Espresso and enjoy a cup of coffee and a pastry as you take in the scenery of our little town. Make sure that you’re bundled up and head out on a stroll down Main Street as it snows and enjoy the mountain air. This is a favorite among couples during the Valentine’s season when love is truly in the air. 

Summer Holidays in Red River

Red River’s annual 4th of July celebration is growing bigger each and every year, bringing guests back to celebrate this fun-filled day. To start things off, the morning of July 4th there is a parade that takes place down Main Street. Every store and restaurant closes so that the locals can enjoy the parade and the entertainment. Following the parade, join everyone at Brandenburg Park* for hot dogs, games, and a DJ. Then head over to the Red River Community* House for family games such as 3 legged race, sack races, and an egg toss.

Hit the slopes on opening day and kick off the ski season with a cold one while watching your friends ski the Face!
