When you are trying to decide between staying in town versus the Upper Valley in Red River, the key differences are lifestyle and the environment. “In Town” usually refers to an urban setting with easy access to shopping, dining, and other amenities and events. On the other hand, the “Upper Valley” is more of a rural area that can be more scenic and offers more privacy. Here at Reservations Unlimited, we have properties in both areas, and it is up to you to decide where you want to stay.
Staying In Town
The convenience of being in town and close to amenities is important for some people. This is true for those who want to be close to the events such as the Red River Classic Car Show or the July 4th Parade and Celebration. The Torchlight Parade is a tradition in our small town that takes place every Saturday during the ski season. You can get to the Lift House easily if you’re staying in town and have the best chance at getting good seats, or even seeing it from the deck of one of our properties. All of these events take place in town with things to do and good food to eat. Being close enough to walk to stores and the dining options we have here in Red River might be a deciding factor for someone choosing to stay at a property located in town. To arrive at your property for the week and not have to get in your vehicle to go grab lunch or find a parking spot during the peak times (which can be frustrating) makes staying in town an easy choice for some.
Nightlife in Red River is a reason why some visit our mountain playground. Bull O’ the Woods Saloon is a local bar with great food, cocktails, and live music. They have been providing an authentic saloon experience to locals and guests since 1939! In town, you also have the option of calling for the town shuttle. Whether you need a ride to or from the ski area or need a quick ride to the local candy store, the Red River Miners Transit allows you to not walk across town for free!
Staying In The Upper Valley
Red River’s Upper Valley offers seclusion from other guests and, oftentimes, the chance to see more wildlife that you may not see as often in town, like Elk and Bears. Although you are only 5-10 minutes from town, it almost feels like you’re in a different part of the world. Staying at a property in the Upper Valley can be quiet and peaceful without the noise of vehicles and tourists roaming around. A lot of the properties in the Upper Valley have a lot of room for vehicle parking, trailers included. This is important for those who travel during the summer with their ROVs. Speaking of ROVs, staying in the Upper Valley allows you to be closer to the trailheads. Not just riding trails, but some hiking trails begin in the Upper Valley as well. If you like to roast s’mores and enjoy an evening campfire, then booking a property in the Upper Valley is your best bet.
Amenities in Red River Vacation Rentals
