Snowboarding in Red River

Red River was voted #1 ski town, and it really shows! Red River is New Mexico’s ultimate snowboarding playground for children, teens, adults, as well as beginners. Also known as the Land of Enchantment, it’s only fitting that Red River, also known as “Ski Town of the Southwest,” is located in the Enchanted Circle in northern New Mexico. This is an 83-mile loop that runs through mountains, valleys, and national forestland. In addition, Red River is easily accessible to those visiting from our neighboring states, Texas and Oklahoma, for their snowboarding adventures.

Red River Has Plenty of Snow for our Snowboarders

Red River Ski & Summer Area has some of the best snowmakers in the state of New Mexico that help produce snow when mother nature isn’t helping out. Making our own snow is something that this town has always done, and it’s magical to see the mountain transform overnight. Red River is one of the best places to learn how to snowboard, thanks to the skilled instructors at RRSSA. Group snowboarding lessons are available to book during the winter seasons. These group lessons are for beginners, and groups are separated into age groups. Private lessons are also available if you need extra one-on-one time or want to learn more than just the basics. In addition, the three terrain parks: Snowcross, Pot O’ Gold, and the more challenging Hollywood Terrain Park, offer jumps and rails for those looking to practice their different skills.

Trails for Every Level of Snowboarding

Snowboarding from 10,000 feet up can make you feel like you’re on top of the world. But snowboarding on fresh powder after a snowstorm is the best feeling! You have the choice to snowboard 64 runs over just 200 acres. About ⅓ of the mountain runs are easy and great for beginners. Another ⅓ of the runs are intermediate terrain, with the remaining runs rated advanced for adrenaline junkies. Show off your skills to those watching from the Lift House as you head down The Face. This black diamond run is one of the most popular runs in Red River. Once you’re down at the bottom, you can head into The Lift House for a quick bite to eat and watch other snowboarders shred as they are coming down the mountain. You can then jump onto the Platinum lift and head back to the top of the mountain after you’ve enjoyed a quick bite to eat.
