Red River can be the happiest place on earth for kids. From outdoor activities to candy stores, to picking out a new toy from Red River Trading Company. There’s so much to do and so many memories to be made in our little mountain town. To make it a little easier for you and the kiddos we took a moment and put together a list of things to do for children that will keep them wanting to come back year-after-year.
Candy Stores in Red River
What better way to make your child’s day than taking them to one of Red River’s two candy stores! The Candy Crate has been around for as long as we can remember and sells the best homemade fudge! Graze the different types of candy and grab the younger ones an old Coke bottle to sip on at dinner. Red River Candy Company is the town’s newest candy shop and it has a jelly bean wall! Walk through both candy stores and you can find some of the neatest types of chocolate and candy for every kid in the family!
Kid-friendly Outdoor Activities in Red River
From fishing to hiking to running around outside the property, and to all the outdoor activities that RRSA offers, there is so much for the young kids to do. Red River’s Nature Trail is located at the base of the mountain. You can gain access at the bridge next to Copper Trail Road. This 3.2 mile in and out trail is an easy route and gives beautiful views of the town. Not only will the kids enjoy all that nature has to offer, but it will also wear them out as well!
Red River Ski Area also has many things for children to do year-round. In the winter, you can sign your child up for ski or snowboarding lessons or spend an evening winter tubing with friends. Winter activities such as these require pre-booking as the sessions fill up quickly. Summer in Red River for children is also a great time to spend with friends and make new friends doing new activities. RRSA also offers summer tubing and the ropes course for those who weigh at least 50 pounds! Mini golf, opening day June 10, is also a perfect outdoor activity for families with children of any age during their visit in Red River.
Red River Community House
There are two sessions of Nature Discovery Camp held during the month of June at the Red River Community House! Registration is required due to limited spots for each session, and can be done online! Discover Camp is open to any child from the ages of 6-11 and free to all participants. During the week, the children will enjoy nature related activities and receive a free t-shirt, water bottle, camp notebook, and more! Other activities your child can enjoy at the Community House are games on the lawn, nature hikes, flower walks, boat building and racing, and movies in the mountains! These are just a handful of activities offered throughout the summer starting in June in Red River. Check out the calendar on their website for more information!
Making memories in Red River as a child is something that they will never forget. The memories a child makes during their Red River adventure will be shared with their friends and family back home. Those memories will turn into stories that will be told to their future kids and grandkids.
