Red River is Ranked #1 Ski Town

What do you have to have to be the best ski town? For some it may be the convenient access to the slopes, the amazing restaurants, or the small-town feel. USA’s Readers Choice Poll took a vote on North America’s #1 ski town and your very own Red River, New Mexico was voted the best all around. Red River welcomes you to ski in our little community tucked away in the Carson National Forest.

Snow Tubing at the Ski Area

Snow Tubing at the ski area is the perfect family activity to do after spending a day out on the slopes. There are generally three tubing sessions each evening and are one hour long beginning at 4:30 p.m. We recommend purchasing tickets in advance or as soon as you arrive in Red River, for the days you plan to tube! Sessions fill up quickly and you do not want to miss out on this opportunity to create memories with the family. Check out Red River Ski Area’s website for more information!

Terrain Parks in Red River

Terrain parks are available at Red River Ski Area along the Pot ‘O Gold run where the main park is located. Here you can enjoy three jumps, two large and one small as well as four different rails. Enjoy shredding the mountain with your friends but please be safe!

*Enchanted Forest Cross Country Ski & Snowshoe Area

Hiking is a great way to explore the forest that surrounds Red River. Fortunately, you can do that in the winter time and it’s called snowshoeing. Don’t let the cold weather and snow stop you from adventuring out into the wilderness at the Enchanted Forest Ski Area! Dog trails at the Enchanted Area are provided for those who would like to snowshoe or ski with their furry friends! Enclosed child carrier sleds are also available for rent for those who want to enjoy cross country skiing with their little ones.

With an average snowfall of over 150 inches, over 50 trails that range from easy to hard, and an awesome torchlight parade on Saturday nights in the winter, Red River offers the getaway of a lifetime.

*The Enchanted Forest is currently closed at this time due to the 100 mph winds that struck our town on December 15th. If you would like to help contribute to the rebuilding, visit their website for their GoFundMe link.
