March Into Red River

March in Red River can be one of the most fun times to visit our little mountain town. In addition to the winter sports, you may also enjoy some of the springtime adventures. Keep reading to plan your Red River trip during the month of March! It’s time to pack your ski clothes, hiking boots, and workout gear to conquer your spring trip to fabulous Red River, New Mexico.

Skiing and Snowboarding

Winter adventures are still available to our guests during the month of March. Spring Break is around the corner and this is the best time to grab your family or group of friends and hit the slopes with your skis or snowboard.

If you’re in college or have children in college, the Red River Ski Area has college days from March 17-20th. During these days, if you have your college identification, you can enjoy discounted rentals and lift tickets. Be sure to call ahead to ensure Red River Ski Area still has discounted tickets available.

Hiking in Red River

Weather permitting, you could enjoy a nice hike on one of Red River’s hiking trails or spend your mornings walking around town and enjoying the wildlife and morning walks to grab coffee at STEAM Coffee Co. Red River’s Nature Trail runs along the base of the mountain and offers opportunities to see wildlife such as bobcats, deer, and even chipmunks.

Enchanted Forest

Snowshoe tours are offered daily with reservations through the Enchanted Forest Cross Country Ski Area. From now through March 20th you can schedule a 1.5 hour tour with beautiful views of our snowy forest. The snowshoe tours include natural and human history, full rentals that include snowshoes, poles, and warm boots.

Community House Activities

Nights at the Community House is where you will find families hanging out, spending time with each other, and playing games. Red River’s Community House has Bingo nights where the price is only $20 for a 10 packet. Check out this awesome time during the month of March on Saturday evenings. Doors open at 6 p.m. and doors close at 6:30 SHARP. No entry is allowed into the building after 6:30 pm (Due to state of New Mexico Bingo Laws).

Also going on at the Community House during the month of March, on Tuesday and Thursday mornings at 10 a.m., mountain time, you can join a small group of others for a Chair Yoga class. Grab your girlfriends and enjoy a DVD-guided yoga class to help strengthen poses. Afterward, enjoy a Library Tasting down the street at Noisy Water Winery. This tasting includes a one hour guided vertical wine tasting from past vintage wines. Price is $40 per person and your choice of 4 wines, 2 reds and 2 whites. Dry and sweet options are available.
