Why Fall in Red River is Your Relaxation Destination

We are cooling down for the fall in downtown Red River. The mountains surrounding us make sure our nights are crisp and our days are mild – perfect weather for a relaxing vacation get-a-way. You can hike, ride or just enjoy nature’s solitude. Either way, you will be rejuvenated and have a stress-free time here with us.

Hiking in Red River

Hiking is one of our favorite past times. Take an early morning short and easy hike on the Red River Nature Trail, or a long all-day hike to Wheeler Peak. We have easy trails for the entire family or difficult trails for the experienced hiker that loves a challenge. Once you are done, Reservations Unlimited has over 30 properties with hot-tub options. That will relax you after a day of hiking.

ROV and OHV Adventures

Red River is a unique little town that allows you to explore nature and go off-roading! And there’s no better time than fall before the snow hits! Have fun, but of course, be careful! Check out the newest rules and regulations here.

The Aspens are Breathtaking

Before the leaves fall to make room for the snow, the mountains change to beautiful colors of red, orange and yellow. The Aspens put on a show all their own in bright colors. If you are here during the fall foliage, Butterfly Mountain can be seen coming into Red River. The Aspens are nestled in a grove of pine and take the shape of a bright yellow butterfly.

A Taste of Fall

Bring your appetite if you plan to have lunch or dinner at The Magnolia Kitchen. You’ll be happy with the portion sizes and the taste as you waddle out for your next adventure. Just so you know, almost all Reservations Unlimited rentals come with refrigerators if you happen not to be able to finish your portion.

The Motherlode Saloon is just one stop of many that offer some great entertainment for a casual evening of music and dancing. Other adult entertainment (21 or older) is all within walking distance of downtown. Just remember, safety first and no drinking on the public streets.

Aspencade

If your fall trip takes place from about September 19 – 22, join us for the Red River Folk Festival at Aspencade – offering a fantastic lineup of Folk Music entertainers for you. Stroll through booths of hand-made crafts, jewelry, pottery, and art. (Don’t forget the hot-tub waiting for you back in your home away from home.)

Fall Fishing

Fishing gets our hearts racing, but if you find it relaxing, head over to Williams Trading Post and hit the water. They have everything you need for a fishing excursion, so no need to worry that you forgot something…we always try to make it stress-free for you. Don’t let the guy at the counter convince you to bring him your catch…despite what he tells you, it’s really NOT required. Fishing licenses are, however.

Music in the Mountains

Besides our adult nighttime entertainment and daily outside activities for everyone, we have other events for you and your family to enjoy. Music in the Mountains is every Friday night at the Community Center. Bring a blanket or some chairs and enjoy this great venue with the whole family.

Dogs Love Fall in The Mountains

Bring your dog! Reservations Unlimited has 18 properties that allow you to bring your furry friends. The Town of Red River hosts Wags and Wine around September 14, with you and your 4 legged friends in mind. Grooming, training tips, demos, contests (for the dogs); and wine and beer (for the humans). Post Note: We strongly suggest leaving your cat at home for this event.

Oktoberfest

Oktoberfest begins on around October 11 and runs through Sunday. Come join us for authentic German cuisine, music, beer, crafts, and family-friendly activities. There’s even a contest for best beard (ladies and gents welcome to try). Enjoy some local microbreweries’ best of the best. $5 admission fee to attend this event in Brandenburg Park.

So if returning home after a vacation being relaxed and refreshed is what you are looking for, come on up to Red River. You will have a great time while you are at it!
